Lot 4:
Description
A pair of mid-20th-century impressionistic landscape paintings, executed in oil on canvas board. The first work depicts a sun-dappled forest clearing with a palette of ochre, orange, and soft blue tones. The second work features a shaded forest interior with prominent upright and fallen tree trunks in earthy greens and browns. One painting contains an illegible signature in the lower-right corner. Both works are housed in matching ornate, Rococo-style gilded frames with off-white fabric liners. The reverse of each frame bears a small orange gallery label for the Carl Bredemeier Gallery of Buffalo, New York.
Measurements: 15 by 18 inches.
Condition report:
Both paintings exhibit fine craquelure and minor surface wear consistent with age. The gilded frames show light scuffing and age-appropriate wear to the finish. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
