Description
This oil on canvas portrait depicts a bearded man wearing a red vest over a white shirt, rendered in an expressive style with visible impasto. The artwork is signed Ventura in the upper right corner. The reverse of the canvas bears a pencil inscription reading ITALIA 1924. The painting is secured to a traditional wooden stretcher with metal clips and is housed in a heavily ornate, gilded gesso and wood frame featuring decorative molding.

Condition report:
The canvas exhibits fine craquelure and surface dirt consistent with age. The gilded gesso and wood frame is in poor condition, showing significant structural separation at the corners, numerous cracks throughout the gesso, and multiple losses to the decorative molding. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
