Description
This oil or acrylic painting on canvas depicts a portrait of a smiling clown. The figure is rendered with white face makeup, a red nose, a brown top hat, and a red bowtie. The work is signed E. Ward in red pigment in the lower right corner. The painting is set within a gold-gilded frame featuring a repeating foliate motif. The reverse reveals the canvas is mounted on a wooden stretcher bar stamped with the manufacturer mark Fredrix 28. Hand-written inventory numbers, including 6803 BIS and 804, are present on the reverse of the canvas.

Condition report:
The painting is in good overall condition. Minor wear is visible to the canvas edges on the reverse. The gilded frame shows light surface wear and minor scuffing consistent with age and handling. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
