Lot 17:
Description
A trio of monochromatic pencil drawings on paper by Western artist Dan Jordan, from The Old West portrait series. Each work features a realistic portrait of a male subject in traditional late 19th-century Western attire. One subject is depicted in a sombrero and striped serape, another in a hat and neckerchief, and a third bearded subject in a fur-collared coat. Each drawing is signed and dated Dan Jordan © 84 or Dan Jordan © 86 in the lower right corner. Two works are presented in matching light-toned wooden frames with black and red multi-layered matting. The third work is presented in a darker, contoured wooden frame with cream and red matting. The reverse of each piece features an artist label for Dan Jordan of Wauconda, Washington, and handwritten inscriptions identifying them as part of the Old West Portrait Series with numbers 44, 94, and 95.
Each frame: 10.5 x 13 inches.
Condition report:
The collection is in good condition. The wooden frames show minor surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age, particularly on the darker frame. The paper backing on the reverse of each piece shows light wrinkling and toning. The drawings and matting appear well-preserved behind glass. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
