Description
This white-on-white textile is a Chinese Swatow embroidered handkerchief featuring elaborate floral and foliate motifs. The design is organized in concentric circular patterns with intricate needle lace and drawn-thread openwork inserts located in the center and along the scalloped borders. The piece is professionally mounted on a black mat and double-framed within two tiers of ornate gilded wood frames. It is protected by Tru Vue conservation glass. The reverse side includes a gallery label from Howard/Mandville Gallery and a conservation glass sticker.
Textile: 11 x 11 inches
Frame: 21.5 x 21.5 inches.
Condition report:
The textile is in very good condition with minor peripheral fraying consistent with age. The framing and conservation glass are in good state. The piece has not been examined out of the frame. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
