Description
This lot features a framed and matted vintage menu cover from the Matson Lines S.S. Lurline, dated to approximately 1956. Estate said this is from Trader Vics. The illustration is attributed to Eugene Savage and is titled A God Appears or Hawaii’s Decisive Moment. The mid-century stylized composition depicts the landing of Captain Cook in Hawaii, showing British naval officers interacting with Native Hawaiians. The scene includes various tropical fruits, livestock, and the HMS Resolution positioned in the background. The artwork is presented in a reddish-brown wooden frame with a neutral mat. A vertical crease is visible down the center of the sheet, which is consistent with its original manufacture and use as a folded menu.

Condition report:
The piece is in good vintage condition. A prominent vertical crease is present through the center of the paper as issued. The frame shows minor surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age. The item has not been examined out of the frame. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
