Description
A monochromatic portrait painting on canvas depicting an elderly man with spectacles and a mustache, shown in a head-and-shoulders view while smoking a cigarette. The work is executed in a realistic style using sepia-toned pigments against a white background. The piece is signed – E. Ward – in the lower right. The painting is housed in a gold-toned wooden frame with a tiered profile and a reddish-brown inner border. On the reverse, the canvas is stapled to a wooden stretcher and fitted with a wire hanging assembly. A red numeric inscription reading #7053 810 is present on the back of the canvas.
Outer dimensions: approximately 28.5 x 23.5 inches.
Condition report:
The painting is in good overall condition with some minor surface marks visible under close inspection. The frame exhibits minor wear consistent with age and handling. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
