Description
A collection of portrait miniatures depicting women in various historical costumes, including 18th-century and Renaissance styles. The central rectangular miniature bears the signature Ida Calzolari. Each portrait is individually housed in a gilt metal frame with ornate detailing and mounted on a dark blue velvet ground. The collection is presented in a large octagonal frame featuring a repeating foliate border. The reverse includes a gallery label from the Howard/Mandville Gallery.
Outer frame: 21 inches width.
Condition report:
The assembly is in very good condition. The miniatures appear well-preserved with no visible loss to the painted surfaces. The individual frames and the primary octagonal frame show minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age. The velvet lining is intact and free of significant fading or staining. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
