Lot 57:
Description
A pair of 19th-century silver-plated candlesticks manufactured by Norblin and Co. in Warsaw, Poland. These items are designed in the Rococo Revival style, featuring tiered bases with elaborate shell motifs, floral swags, and scrollwork. The baluster-form stems are decorated with corresponding foliate and floral ornamentation. The undersides of the bases are stamped with several hallmarks, including an oval mark for NORBLIN and Co / GALW / WARSZAWA, indicating they are electroplated. Additional marks include the number 1145, the letter A, and a crest mark. The hollow interiors appear to contain original weighting material.
Height: 11.5 inches.
Condition report:
The candlesticks exhibit visible surface tarnish and patina. There is minor wear to the silver plating on high points and edges consistent with age and use.
