Description
This framed maritime textured print on canvas depicts the Bombardment of Algiers, 1816, a composition closely associated with the work of George Chambers. The scene illustrates several multi-masted sailing vessels engaged in battle amidst heavy smoke and fire, with smaller rowboats and figures visible in the foreground. The work is housed in a heavy, ornate dark-toned frame featuring scrollwork relief and a beige fabric-textured liner. The reverse includes a label from Framers’ Studio, Mercer Island, WA and is equipped with a hanging wire for display.

Condition report:
The canvas exhibits a small puncture in the lower right area and some other small dents. The reverse shows significant tearing and loss to the green paper backing. The frame displays minor age-related wear and small losses to the ornate molding. Art is from a clean smoke free home.
