Description

This lot consists of a pair of limited edition lithographs by Cherokee artist Donald Vann, titled December Sky and The Past Remembered. The works are executed in the artist’s characteristic ethereal style with a muted color palette. December Sky depicts a procession of Native American figures on horseback moving through a winter landscape. The Past Remembered shows a traditional scaffold burial site in a misty wooded area. Both prints are hand-signed in pencil by the artist as Donald Vann in the lower right margin. December Sky is numbered 1705 / 1800, and The Past Remembered is numbered 737 / 1800. Each print also features a printed mark at the lower right with the text VANN 85 next to a copyright symbol and a stylized arrow graphic. The versos of the frames carry pink labels from Paradise Galleries of Ft. Myers, Florida. The lot includes original promotional brochures from the publisher, Native American Images of Austin, Texas, which provide biographical information on the artist and confirm the titles and original issue price. Both pieces are housed in light-colored wood frames with double matting under glass.
Frame width: 33 inches
Visible image width: 26 inches
Listed sheet sizes: 16 x 26 inches and 19 x 26 inches.
