Description
An assortment of traditional Japanese dolls, known as ningyo, from the Yamaha line of high-quality handicrafts. The collection features a variety of cultural subjects, including bijin-ga (geisha and beautiful women), kabuki theatrical characters, and traditional folk dancers. The dolls are characterized by hand-painted gofun (crushed oyster shell paste) faces and hands, providing a smooth white matte finish. They are dressed in elaborate kimonos made from silk brocade (nishiki) and embroidered fabrics. Key subjects include a dancer with multiple red hanagasa (flower hats), figures with parasols and fans, and a musician with a stringed instrument. The dolls are mounted on black lacquered or natural wood bases, several of which feature small rectangular labels with the Yamaha mark. The collection is displayed in a large, contemporary hardwood cabinet with a light finish. The cabinet features a canted-front design with three vertical glass sections and adjustable glass shelving. *Cabinet is secured to the wall, buyer will need to bring proper tools and labor to remove and pack all items.

Condition report:
The collection is in excellent overall condition. The textiles remain vibrant with no visible fading or staining. Hand-painted gofun surfaces are well-preserved without cracking. All hair ornaments and props appear to be present. The display cabinet is in good structural condition with minor surface dust and light cosmetic wear to the wood consistent with careful domestic use.
