Description
A William Moorcroft glazed earthenware vase featuring the Pomegranate pattern. This bottle-form vase has a wide, bulbous body and a long neck with a slightly flared rim. The pattern is executed with tubelined outlines filled with colored glazes, depicting ripe pomegranates in red and ocher tones, surrounded by foliage and dark berry clusters on a cobalt blue ground. The underside is marked with impressed stamps for MADE IN ENGLAND and MOORCROFT, a shape number 34, a small circular mark, and a hand-painted initials signature in blue.
Height: 7.75 inches.
Condition report:
The vase shows extensive fine crazing throughout the glaze surface, which is a common characteristic of older Moorcroft pottery. There are no visible chips, cracks, or signs of repair.
